Mizoho is a small software company based on Roundhay Road in Leeds. We make a mobile app that records income and expenses for people who work for themselves: freelancers, tradespeople, consultants, market sellers, drivers and anyone else who invoices under their own name.
The app does one job. It keeps a clear, dated record of what came in and what went out, so that at the end of a month or a tax year the numbers are already sorted and nothing has to be reconstructed from memory or from a shoebox of receipts.
Mizoho was founded in 2019. The first people on the team had spent years working alongside self-employed clients and kept seeing the same pattern: someone does good work all year, then loses a weekend every January trying to match bank entries to jobs. Spreadsheets helped a little. Large accounting packages were built for businesses with staff and a bookkeeper, and most of their screens were irrelevant to a one-person trade.
So the first version of the app was deliberately small. It let a user enter a payment in a few taps, attach a photo of a receipt and tag the entry with a category. Everything else was added later, one request at a time, after it had been asked for by real users more than once.
Since then the team has grown from a handful of people to 20, the app has been used by 980 clients in total, and we complete roughly 140 new onboardings a year. Of those, 220 have returned for a second piece of work with us, usually to add a feature or to move a second business into the app.
Our mission is plain: make bookkeeping for one-person businesses take minutes rather than evenings. We measure features against that. If a screen adds a step without removing a bigger one elsewhere, it does not ship.
The longer-term aim is for a self-employed person in Leeds or anywhere else in the country to open the app on any day and see, without calculation, what has been earned this month, what has been spent and what is likely to be set aside for tax. We do not promise outcomes for anyone’s finances. We aim to give a clear picture, and the decisions stay with the user.
We also try to stay honest about scope. The app is a record-keeping tool. It is not an accountant and does not replace one, and we say so inside the product as well as on this page.

Four working rules guide product decisions and support replies alike. They are short on purpose, so that people can actually apply them.
Every screen should be usable with one thumb on a train. If a task needs a manual, we redesign the task.
No inflated claims, no promised savings. We describe what the app records and what it leaves to your accountant.
Financial records belong to the person who created them. We collect only what the app needs to function and explain it in the privacy policy.
Requests get a reply within 24 hours on working days, from a person who has read the message.
Seven years of building one product has given the team a narrow but deep skill set. Developers on the team work with mobile interfaces and local data storage. Support staff handle the questions that come up most: how to split a mixed personal and business purchase, how to record a payment that arrives late, how to export a clean month for an accountant.
Across 1,234 completed jobs, the pattern has been consistent. Most people do not need more features. They need a faster way to enter what already happened and a report that reads clearly. That is where we spend most of our development hours.
Our 11 services cover first-time setup, category design for a particular trade, import of older spreadsheets, receipt capture, monthly summaries and custom exports, among others. Each is described on the services page, and examples of finished work are on the portfolio page. Common questions are answered in the FAQ.
We currently work with clients across 5 districts in and around Leeds, and the app itself is available to anyone in the United Kingdom.
We do not give tax advice, file returns on anyone’s behalf or guarantee any financial result. Those tasks belong to a qualified accountant or to the user. The app prepares the records; what is done with them is a separate decision.
